I'm Drew Mitchell, managing director of Envico Limited, a UK company established in 2003 and ISO 9001 registered. I have spent twenty-three years in the health and safety training sector, and the last sixteen of them running the business remotely.

What Envico actually does
Envico Limited is an independent training marketplace and intermediary. We do not deliver courses ourselves. We list, compare and book accredited health, safety and construction training from providers across the UK, which means the job is largely one of catalogue, search and systems rather than classrooms.
That runs across two separate businesses, both of them marketplaces. envico-online.com is the original site, a health, safety and construction course marketplace built up since 2003. envicourse.com is the newer platform, on a different stack, run alongside it rather than replacing it. Between the two we carry more than 4,500 courses from over 148 accredited providers.
As managing director my work covers business development, the commercial side of provider relationships, and the operational systems underneath both sites. I handle the catalogue and site operations personally, which is why the technical writing on this site is first-hand rather than researched.
Working remotely since 2010
I started operating internationally in 2010, well before remote work was normal or well supported. There were no good tools for it. Most of what now takes a browser tab took a phone call and a fax number.
That constraint shaped everything since. Running a UK business from another timezone forces you to build systems that work without you standing next to them, and to be ruthless about anything that only functions when someone is physically present. It is also why I build almost everything as self-contained browser tools with no backend to maintain.
The lesson that has held up longest: adaptability beats permanence. Nothing I built in 2003 still runs. The habit of rebuilding is the only thing that survived.
From operator to creator
After twenty-odd years of working behind the scenes, I started documenting the transition from business operator to creator. Publicly, while it is happening, rather than as a retrospective from someone who already made it.
The content covers remote business operations, SEO, the tools I build and why, and the unglamorous parts of running a catalogue business. It includes the things that did not work, because those are more useful than the things that did and almost nobody publishes them.
Two channels carry it:
The documentation channel. Building in the open, what the numbers actually look like, and the mistakes as they happen.
Practical UK health and safety compliance. What the regulations require, in plain English, from the sector I have worked in since 2003.
Why the background matters
The internet of 2003 and the internet of today share a name and very little else. I have run a business through the rise of Google, the collapse of directory listings, the shift to mobile, the arrival of the platforms, and now the arrival of AI answers that summarise your content without sending anyone to it.
None of that was predicted in advance by anyone honest. What it does give you is a long baseline for telling the difference between a change that matters and one that does not. That is the perspective behind everything I publish here.
